The intricate honeycomb pattern on the six-piece set is sure to impress your guests at any occasion and would be absolutely stunning at Christmas or Valentines Day. Crafted from high-quality glass, these glasses are perfect for sipping your favorite whiskey or juice. Viking Glass Company was formed by stockholders of another glass company (New Martinsville Glass Company) in June 1944. The company launched a full-scale ad campaign promoting its patriotism with ads that boasted “Handmade in America” and “For Use in American Homes.” In 1950, they began to introduce color to their glass: first with evergreen, amber, ebony, cobalt blue, sky blue, and ruby red colors. In 1953, amethyst, charcoal, cherry glo, colonial blue harvest gold, and olive green were added to the mix. From the 1950’s into the 1960’s, Viking Glass was all about bright, brilliant color in their designs. However, by 1964, the company had reduced the number of color choices from over 30 to seven, including ruby. Sadly, the company shut down in 1984, briefly given a lifeline by a former glass executive, until forever closing its doors in 1998. Its demise ended a century of glassmaking tradition, but soon started collectors’ appreciation for Viking’s colorful molded glass. Add these beautiful glasses to your collection today!
